How do I know? I sell pet stain remover but I always tell people the truth about the products they are buying. Many web sites on the internet give a 100% money back guarantee on pet stain removers but how can they possibly guarantee a product when they haven’t even seen the mess that the product has to clean up. From my experience with amazing internet cleaning chemicals including pet stain removers is that they usually don’t work. Most pet stain remover websites bank on the fact that you either won’t take the time to return the product or you’ll give up on your pet stain problem and have a professional come in to finish the job. The truth about pet removal products is they sometimes work and they sometimes don’t it all depends on the surface that your cleaning up and how bad the damage really is. At least once a day I email a customer back and tell them they need a professional (in some cases a demolition crew) to come in and first take a look at the actual problem and then decide if they can accomplish the task.

There are two different types of pet stain removers, volatile chemicals (chemicals that react with certain compounds) and enzyme products. Chemical products work by changing the chemical make up of urine. This is all great except for the fact that you’re using a chemical on your flooring or carpet and chances are you’re not going to get all the chemical out. These chemicals can remain in the dye pores and fibers of your carpets for many years or until the carpet is replaced. Enzymes work by eating the urine on the floor and then turn anaerobic and die. It seems really gross but you can’t see it happening and enzymes are a part of nature unlike man made chemicals.

In my experience I have dealt with both types of concoctions and feel that enzymes do the best job. Enzymes smell better and won’t harm your carpets and are more environmental and people friendly. When using either of these methods there is one truth that holds true and this is where the “sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t” statement comes in. If the enzyme or chemical does not come in contact with the pet urine it will not work. If you’re pet stain problem is to the point that the wood or cement underneath the carpet has been saturated for an extended period of time it’s time to call a construction crew. Your sub floors will have to be replaced and cement has to be sealed, this is the only way to get rid of cat urine odors once this much damage has been done. For some of my customers that I talk to it just seems like having flooring removed or cement sealed is too hard to swallow and there just has to be an easier and cheaper way to solve the problem. The truth is that once cat urine as seeped into a porous substance like wood or cement nothing can remove or neutralize it. When it gets damp or humid that smell will always come back and in some cases get worse over time.

For infrequent pet stains or pet accidents pet stain removers can work extremely well. These products can easily neutralize and eliminate pet stains on a carpets surface or already sealed flooring. Don’t be fooled by amazing products and 100% guarantees because if they haven’t seen the problem the product is going to tackle they might be doing a good job at removing your money from your wallet and not the pet stain from your floor.

Picture this picture - Its the weekend and its a lovely day. You take the puppy and a ball along with the family to the community woods where you love to amble and give the dog keep fit and observe the young ones having fun playing with the puppy. My other image, which sees you walking into the sitting room to see the dog on top of the sofa, lying comfortably between the kids, watching the television in front of an open fire.

Now lets look at reality and contemplate of what can in actuality occur, at what time you obtain that delightful dog who you all adore on the way home and are promptly met by actuality once you get over the threshold of the front gate.

Where will the dog settle? Is it to sleep in the utility room, kitchen, living room or upstairs. Does the selected vicinity have a right and proper ground to make it effortless to clear up after the pup? What transpires when the dog tells you graciously, by barking all evening, while you are all trying to be asleep, that it would rather to sleep upstairs with you, rather than downstairs where it is lonely and maybe freezing.

Have you thought regarding clearing up after the dog awaiting its fully housetrained? If the dog has entrance to carpets are you geared up for the harm which possibly will be brought about? Are you ready for the fact that the puppy will relieve its self in the residence before you have time to get it out. This dilemma can be controlled if you make certain that the dog is taken out in a moment subsequent to each dinner or noticeable drink, getting the timing right can be the problem. The difficulty can be quickly solved by training the animal to ask to go out as you reward it with great treats at what time it asks to go out.

Where will you take the dog for principal education or do you have an adequate amount of knowledge to teach the dog yourself?

Who will walk the puppy daily come hail, rain or snow to guarantee it is correctly exercised. It needs to be done to keep up the wellbeing and fitness of the dog and guarantee that it physically develops suitably.

If you have children are they old an adequate amount to be at ease with the animal who possibly will have sharp dog teeth and will probably bite or chew on any article it can find until its teeth come through. Will the youngsters be comfortable with a dog which can bark and snap at an early age, until it will become secure with little kids.

At what time it appears to chew on the home furniture, wall paper or other fixtures and fittings in the house will you be able to handle with the potential damage. A container of Oil of Cloves can be a very vital item to have close at hand and should be applied generously to everything chosen by the animal for chewing. Once tasted it will never chew that item yet again as the pupps response will normally be ich or yuck after tasting the oil.

The next issue to consider is the cost of foodstuff, have you set thought to the price of feeding the puppy with every day foods and also the goodies which are a very important element of schooling the animal.

A very significant outlay to mull over carefully is medical assurance for the puppy as visits to a vet can be a exceedingly costly exercise where a consultation and medication can simply cost more than 100 and ongoing remedy can see the price tag quickly amplify to hundreds of pounds if not more. Signing up to a healthiness plan when you get the animal can easily cost more than 300 - 500 for a fundamental plan.

Its very crucial to investigate the schemes methodically, as any attempt to adjust to a different insurer at renewal will see any existing medical issues excluded by the new insurers and most puppies do have at least an upset stomach when the are puppies!! With pet insurance a key feature to consider is that some policies limit the amount they will pay per health issues in a life span and also the expense per year and others will limit the amount they will pay per year.

Finally, the most critical things to think about:

Are you prepared to think about the dogs wellbeing and requirements in all your future daily preparation.

Is the individual who is the daily keeper of the residence happy to recognize the tasks which come with having a puppy.

Once the novelty of having a new animal wears off, are you willing to accept that it has daily needs and must be well thought-out when planning the daily schedule.

One can aim to leave the puppy alone in the house for up to four hours once the dog is fully grown-up and house trained, on the other hand, a number of pet dogs are prone to bark when left by itself if they become anxious at being home alone. This setback can result in despondent neighbours and possible fines from the local council.

All too regularly one hears of the family who got a animal and after a few days requested the breeder to take the puppy back because, they couldnt cope with the mess or the fact that it had to be considered in the daily arrangement of the family or the family failed to share the duties of the puppy.

Keep in mind a puppy is for life and not only the novelty!

Separation anxiety, also known in the dog training world as owner absent misbehavior, is one of the most frequently encountered problems in the world of dog training. Separation anxiety can manifest itself in many different ways, including chewing, destroying the owner’s property, excessive barking, self destructive behavior and inappropriate urination and defecation.

Dogs suffering from separation anxiety often whine, bark, cry, howl, dig, chew and scratch at the door the entire time their family members are away. Well meaning owners often unwittingly encourage this misbehavior by rushing home to reassure the dog, but it is important for the well being of both dog and owner that the dog learn to deal with extended periods of separation.

How the owner leaves the house can often contribute to separation anxiety issues. A long and drawn out period of farewell can make matters worse by making the dog feel even more isolated when the owner finally leaves. These long types of farewells can get the dog excited, and then leave him with lots of excess energy and no way to work it off. These excited, isolated dogs often work off their excess energy in the most destructive of ways, such as chewing up a favorite rug or piece of furniture.

Excess energy is often mistaken for separation anxiety, since results are often the same. If you think that excess amounts of energy may be the problem, try giving your dog more exercise to see if that eliminates the problem.

If separation anxiety is truly the problem, it is important to address the root causes of that anxiety. In order to prevent separation anxiety from occurring, it is important for the dog to feel happy, safe, secure and comfortable while the owner is away for the day. It is important, for instance, to give the dog plenty of things to keep it busy while you are away. This means providing it with lots of toys, such as balls or chew toys. A pet companion is often effective at relieving separation anxiety as well. Giving the dog a playmate, such as another dog or a cat, is a great way for busy pet parents and pets alike to cope with the stress of being left alone.

Setting aside scheduled play times, during which the pet is given your undivided attention, is another great way to alleviate boredom and separation anxiety. Playing with the dog, and providing it with sufficient attention and exercise, is a proven way to avoid a stressed and anxious dog. A happy dog that has been well exercised and well conditioned will generally sleep the day away happily and patiently wait for the return of its owner.

It is important to schedule one of these daily play sessions before you leave the house each day. It is important to give the dog a few minutes to settle down after playtime before you leave.

For dogs that are already experiencing separation anxiety and associated misbehaviors, it is important to get him accustomed to your leaving gradually. Be sure to practice leaving and returning at irregular intervals, several times during the day. Doing so will get your dog accustomed to your deparartures and help him realize that you are not leaving him forever. Dogs that have been previously lost, or those that have been surrendered to shelters and readopted, often have the worst problems with separation anxiety. Part of treating this problem is teaching the dog that your leaving is not permanent.

Campbell Dwarf Hamster is the most popular species of all the Dwarf Hamsters, and is the variety most commonly seen in pet shops.

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

Another name for this hamster is the Dzungarian Dwarf Hamster, named after the Alatau mountain range that spans the nations of China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia. But the hamster’s official name is Phodopus campbelli, a rather pompous moniker for such a cute, cuddly creature.

COLORATIONS AND TEXTURES

Campbell Dwarf Hamsters in the wild have a gray-brown coat with a white belly. However, years of selective breeding in captivity have yielded many exciting variations with exotic sounding names. Regardless of the coloration, all hamsters of this species have a dark dorsal stripe - that is, a stripe that runs down their back.

Agouti is the name given to the standard coloration found in the wild.

Argente has a cinnamon top on a white underside. This variation generally sports either red or black eyes.

Opal has a blue-gray coat with white belly and red eyes. Hamsters with this coloration are commonly mislabeled as Winter White Hamsters, which have the same blue-gray topcoat during the summertime.

Black has a solid black coat, with black eyes.

Albino has a solid white coat, with red eyes.

The coat of the Campbell Dwarf Hamster may have variations in texture:

Normal - short and flat

Satin - the fur is shiny

Rex - a short coat of curly, sparse, soft hair, and curly whiskers.

MATTERS OF SIZE

Campbell Dwarf Hamsters grow to be about four inches in length. The males will be slightly longer than the females. They are much smaller than regular varieties, such as the Golden Hamster or the Black Bear Hamster, and therefore must be kept in containers where they cannot squeeze through the bars of the cage.

CAMPBELL DWARF HAMSTERS AS PETS

Like all hamsters, these creatures are nocturnal, meaning that their normal waking hours are during the night. However, they emerge occasionally during the daytime for food and exercise. Socialized hamsters are used to humans, but must be handled on a daily basis if they are to remain tame.

Although they have a friendly temperament, it may nip if startled or frightened. Resist the temptation to pick up a sleeping hamster. Remember that a hamster is low on the food chain, and sudden movements will arouse a natural instinct for self-defense. When reaching for your hamster, be sure the hamster sees your hand, and move slowly. Offering treats, such as sunflower seeds, on your open palm will give your hamster a positive association with your hand, and make it easier to pick up.

BASIC CARE

Campbell Dwarf Hamsters are easy to care for. In addition to the appropriate cage, a hamster wheel will be required for exercise. Toys are not only appreciated by the hamster, but are fun accessories to buy. Most important are chew toys, so that the hamster may keep his teeth properly trimmed. And of course, you will want to supply your hamster with appropriate food and purified water.

Treats may be given in the form of seeds, nuts and vegetables. It is important to avoid sugary treats, as this species is particularly susceptible to developing diabetes. With proper care, they may live longer than its life expectancy of two years.

HAMSTER FRIENDS

One advantage to this hamster is that it gets along with its cage mates, as long as they were introduced to the enclosure at the same time, as youngsters. Hamsters that display a tendency to fight with one another must be separated before they do harm. Males and females will reproduce abundantly, so it is important to keep them apart unless you already have homes lined up for the offspring.

COMPANION ANIMALS

This species is known for its inquisitive and endearing ways. Once you have provided the basic requirements of food and shelter, you will find an amusing companion animal in the Campbell Dwarf Hamster.

In addition to writing about health and fitness, Harrold Carter writes about used golf clubs and nutrition info.
That we need to do to be efficient and use your time.

Owners must train the pets greatly with misbehaviour down the road and harass by neighbors is difficult to face it. Proceeding with the dog training sooner than later is a good idea.

How would that possibly occur?

When allowing your pet run into the backyard, it is imperative to make certain that the vicinity is safe so that they can run and play securely, without the hazard that they may stumble on a way out of the garden, to run away or bring about an mishap with passing traffic.

How to lock up the backyard depends on the supplies used to create the area and the resources available to make it secure.

In the occasion that the area is finished from brick, you may perhaps patch any openings in the fence and then get rid of any boxes or materials which may allow the dog to climb to the peak of the wall, jump over and run away.

Where timber supplies or panels are used to construct the garden fence, it is crucial that all the timber is good and that a animal will not be able to break the panels and create a way through. In the result that the panels are weak or poorly maintained, it might be preferable to substitute the deteriorated panels or fencing and commonly paint them with preservative to ensure that they remain sound and therefore defend their endurance.

The final option for deliberation is a garden perimeter made from hedges with which can provide pet dogs many chances to escape. Assuming that a sensible budget is to be had, a good resolution is the integration of tennis court fencing into the backyard which over time will be covered by the hedges and so mix together into the hedge.

Tennis court fencing is plastic coated chain link 50mm mesh, 3.15mm overall, with 2.24mm galvanized core wire complete with plastic coated line and tying wires. This type of fencing can be secured to treated timber posts that can be set into the ground. It is imperative to set the fencing six to twelve inches into the soil to make it not easy for any dog which likes to burrow its way to liberty. Once the wire is dug into the floor placing rocks and bricks in front of the fencing at repeated intervals below ground level, will also act as a major deterrent for any hardened escapologist.

Once the fencing is in place it will deter other critters such as foxes, canines or cats from approaching into the garden and consequently diminish unwelcome guests to your house.

This revamp to your garden is a one off expenditure and ought to survive for years if done accurately in the first place and within one to 2 years the fencing will lighten into the hedges and become an insignificant but exceedingly imperative part of your plot.

No matter how well taught your animal is, the temptation to discover outside the habitat location is all too much. They say that curiosity killed the cat, but no mention of pet dogs, the last thing we want is for our best friend to have any mishaps or cause any. So a level of responsibility is something that you need to be aware of when you enter into having and taking care of a dog. All that said, a dog is the most rewarding rapport one can have.

Back to School sales seem to start almost as soon as your kids leave school for the summer. For parents, these sales are one of the best ways to save money and save big. Let’s take a look at some the ways for you to realize savings as you prepare to send your children off to school.

1. Sales. Yes, Back to School sales are still real bargains for parents. The national retail chains such as, WalMart, Target, Sears, JC Penney, and KMart all run sales, as well as do the “pharmacy” chains including: CVS, Walgreens, and Eckerds. The former group of stores are great places to shop for clothing and bookbags while the latter group will feature cut rate school supplies.

2. Dollar Stores. Almost every town across America has the “one dollar” stores where everything is, you guessed it, sold for one dollar. Many of these stores are hit or miss as far as what they carry or what they have available. Some items, even at a dollar, are much more expensive than those found “on sale” at regular retailers.

3. Close Outs. Your kids may protest, but the close out stores — Odd Lots and Big Lots to name two — will carry items your family can use. Sure, the clothing may be way out of style, but lunchboxes, pens, stationary, bookbags, and the like generally are not.

4. Hand Me Downs. Big bro or big sis may have articles of clothing or items they no longer use. If they are gently worn/used consider passing these things on to your younger kids.

5. Garage and Yard Sales. Your child’s lunchbox or calculator may be found at your neighbor’s sale instead of at a retailer. Expect prices to be 50-90% less than full retail.

6. Consignment Shops. Did someone say, Salvation Army? Okay, this is a bit of a stretch. Your kids will probably scream if you take them to a consignment shop, so you can go instead. More than likely what you buy will be for your personal use. Use the money saved to purchase the Nike shoes for your sophomore.

7. Tax Free Weeks. If you live in an area of high sales taxes on clothing, wait for a special “tax free week” to come around to save on purchases. New York City, for instance, is one of the cities with a tax free week. At 8.25%, this particularly high sales tax rate often causes residents to flee the city and drive to New Jersey where there is no tax on clothing. Save on gas, tolls, and time, as well as prop up your local economy by waiting for these special weeks.

There are other ways for you to save money on school supplies including shopping online or by buying in bulk. Back to School shouldn’t mean back in debt provided you shop carefully and wisely.

Whatever dog you have, he or she will sure appreciate having their own private space, just like us humans, dogs are territorial and always love to have a place to call their own. A dog kennel is the perfect opportunity to provide your dog with its own house and you with your own space…

Every dog owner is faced with the same dilemma, to keep the dogs in the house with the family or to think about a dog kennel that will serve the dogs as an outdoor home of their own. The advantages of a dog kennel are numerous and not surprisingly many find that a dog that has his own space is sometimes much more relaxed and happy. The dog kennel option also decreases some conflicts in the home since sometimes some family members are not too excited about having a dog indoors.

A dog kennel fence is an essential instrument for anyone who owns a pet dog. Not only does a kennel fence allow you to put your dog somewhere where he has more space to roam and play, but it also keeps him from tearing up your furniture-or wandering into someone else’s yard. Whether there are unwanted dogs roaming around in your neighborhood-or whether you simply want to keep your dog safe–fences are required to prevent then in entering and damaging any kind of land or property you have.

A dog kennel fence is a great idea for some dog owners and the dogs as well, but you should seriously think about the fence and the way it is going to positively affect your life, you will need to think about your dog too, does he need a lot of space? Should the be a covered area and a place for the dog to isolate itself from the exterior environment?. Once you decide to setup a dog kennel fence, you should take into consideration your dog’s size and personality. Obviously, the larger your dog chain link dog kennel is, the larger you will want the fence to be-and the more space you will want him to have to roam. The next thing to think about is the main purpose of the dog kennel, is it for you to have better control over your dog? Is it to keep your dog from running away (as many dogs do), or to keep it from causing damage and harm to people or things in the vicinity?.

Dog kennel fences are available in many forms so you can many different options for the dog kennel setup, dog kennel materials can be made of metal, wire, and even electronic (but I don’t personally recommend it at all). Each owner can select suitable fencing according to his and his dog’s needs. When making this decision, it is important to consider whether you are fencing your dog in or keeping other things from entering the cage. For instance, if your primary concern is preventing your dog from getting away, you may want to use a high dog kennel fence with a top and with a lock on the door. In contrast, if your primary concern is keeping other animals out, such as raccoons or other dogs, you may want to put up a double fence or an electric fence outside of the kennel.

Ever thought about buying a dog that’s not only a companion; it’s fashionable too? Unless you have been living under a rock you will most likely have heard about the new ‘designer dog’ rage.

You might have wondered what the big deal was with such new mixes. What is it about their cute little names and button noses that are driving hordes of people to the nearest designer dog breeder?

Many people are opposed to the deliberate crossbreeding of dogs. Mainly because it seems to have become a big money making scam.

The Schnoodle, Labradoodle and Maltipoo are just some of the cute new hybrids that are massively popular with those looking for a special kind of puppy, one that’s been intentionally bred to suit your lifestyle, and of course your handbag.

These fashionable mixes have been around for a while. Even Queen Elizabeth’s famous Corgi’s mated with her sister’s Dachshund resulting in Dorgi’s.

Most crossbreeding occurs accidentally and these mixed breed dogs must not be confused with deliberately bred hybrid. To call itself a ‘designer dog’ the parents of the dog must both be purebred and of different breeds.

Within the various mixed dog populations there is a relatively large gene pool. These dogs take qualities from generations and generations of other crossbreeds before them. This is said to be good for the dog.

One of the problems with purebred dogs is that the gene pool is relatively small. While various sought after attributes is enhanced, so are some health problems. At least with purebred dogs there is a long and well documented list of things to expect. For every aspect of your dog’s health, temperament and personality there are many people who have owned these dogs. Many families have been breeding throughout their own generations and know a great deal about the breeds they specialize in.

It’s a very complicated science. At it’s best breeders want to improve the species. And it can be argued that making the species better suited to modern human life (by fitting conveniently in a handbag) is what’s best for the future of the species. By creating a kind of scientific selection breeders are making stronger dogs more full of vitality than any of the known breeds.

Only time will tell if these new breeds will become officially recognized. New breeds must pass through many hoops before they become officially recognized.

Even though many of these dogs have large followings already there is much resistance from the purebred dog camp.

Poo-dogs and designer mutts might be fashionable now but they won’t seem so wonderful when their eyes are popping out of their sockets!

It takes a long time to create a breed of dog that is similar throughout different generations. The expertise, time and investment required by designer dog breeders is what those who are good at it call their life’s work.

Beware of backyard breeders and scrutinize the person who you buy your designer dog from. You’re safest choice will always be a purebred. Breeders have spent many years perfecting both the art and the science of the dog.

And of course a good dog is a reflection of the love and care it was given from birth. Rather spend some time selecting loving and dedicated breeders than buying from a newspaper or Internet site.

Often these designer doggies come from people whose main goal is profit. The harsh reality is that breeding quality, reliable offspring requires far more investment than it yields profit. Very few breeders (who have a proven track record and good reputation) make a large profit from what they do.

If you are ordering a designer doggie that is costing thousands you might want to think about what you will be getting for your money

According to the American Humane Society, just 15% of dogs in shelters ever find their way home again. Thankfully, these loved pooches had identification, enabling shelter personnel to contact and return them to their owners. With such discouraging statistics, it becomes clear how important it is to tag or identify your new puppy.

Even if your dog doesn’t go outside much or is always in your company, you must identify him or her. Windows and doors can be left open, offering your pup a too-tempting escape to the outside world. What should you do to keep your pup safe at home?

There are several ways to ID your pet to prevent against loss or theft. Ideally, implement at least two methods to ensure a safe return should your dog go missing.

Tattoos and microchips provide permanent ways to identify your dog. Shelters, veterinarians, and research laboratories know to look for these keys when animals are brought to their facilities.

Tattoos: this permanent identification system involves tattooing a code onto the dog’s skin, often inside the outer ear or on the inside of its leg. Veterinarians or trained specialists will ink the code for you. You will need to list your dog with one of the many tattoo registry programs around the country.

Microchips: these minuscule electronic chips are embedded under your dog’s skin. Because special scanners are needed to read the information located on the chip, most veterinarians, shelters, and research laboratories have these on hand to scan all strays for identification. Several registries offer membership for dogs with microchips.

While tattoos and microchips offer excellent safety measurements at a reasonable cost, the fact is most people don’t know to look for a tattoo or have the means available to scan for microchips. As a result, it’s essential you provide your pup with an ID tag worn on its collar. ID tags are often the first thing searched for when a stray is found by someone.

At a minimum, the tag should list a current phone number. Because people move and phone numbers change often, a second phone number of a trusted friend or family member is also recommended. If space is available, additional information to include is: your puppy’s name, your address, and any medical conditions.

Luckily, dog ID tags are not expensive to purchase, so it should be one of the first things you get your dog, once you’ve chosen a name. You can usually find just the right tag, too, that fits your lifestyle and your pet’s personality. Tags come in different materials, such as aluminum, brass, stainless steel or plastic, and in a variety of shapes and colors. Today’s glamour pooch can even have his or her own tag made of Swarovski crystals! When it comes to choosing a fun dog ID tag, the choices are limitless.

Whatever methods you use when protecting your pet against loss or theft, please remember to keep the contact information current. Just a few minutes of your time to update registry information or purchase a new dog tag can make all the difference in the world in your beloved dog’s life.

All breeds and sizes of dogs can be taught easily to speak, and the way to go about it is to call your dog, show him a treat and say “Speak.” He will not understand what you mean and will probably at first jump for it, and then sit down and eye it attentively; finally, he will get impatient and utter a sharp bark, which is what you have been waiting for, and the instant he does so reward him with the treat.

A dog which is slow in barking can be encouraged to do so by your imitating a bark, as the chances are he will reply to it, and if you reward him he will learn to bark as soon as he hears the word “speak.”

After a dog has been taught to bark once, you can teach him to bark any number of times, for when he has learned to expect a reward after barking once and you do not give it to him he is apt to bark again or until you give him a signal to stop.

Dogs are very observing and the signal to stop barking can be so slight that your friends will not detect it, such as a movement of the foot or hand, a dropping of the eyelids or a shifting of your gaze, and if you keep up a running fire of conversation and address your dog as if he were a human being his performance will be much more impressive and perplexing.

As an illustration, if you are exhibiting your dog to an audience and want him to speak, don’t simply say “speak,” but address him something like this: “Now, Buddy, all the ladies and gentlemen present are very anxious to hear you speak.” Put a slight emphasis on the word “speak” and your dog will catch it, but it will appear to the audience as if the dog understood the entire sentence and not only the one word “speak.” Of course, when training the young dog you should use only the word “speak” and that distinctly and free from other words, so as not to confuse him.

If your dog knows how to speck on command, you can try to teach “singing” - which is to teach him to howl on command. It is not expected that your dog will produce any melody but only repeat in a mechanical way a series of whines and barks.

Teach him to “sing” in the following manner. Try to imitate a whine yourself and try to get him to imitate the noise you make and to a certain degree, reach the pitch and style of noise make by you, be it a howl, whine or bark and with constant practice, a dog can and will learn to follow your tone quite accurately.

As your dog learn to follow your barking, say “sing” instinctively to associate this action. Praise and treat plentifully during training to encourage him further. Exercise him on a regular basis will help him to learn to sing in no time on your command.

“Speak” and “Sing” are useful lessons in curbing a nuisance barking dog. Let your dog understand that barking and whining is only allowed on command. Simply ignore your dog whenever he barks and whine for your attention. Vice versa, give him lots of praise or treats when he barks on command. If your dog understands this lesson, he will no longer be a nuisance barker and be a good quiet boy for a long time to go.

All dogs can be taught tricks, but some breeds have a special aptitude in that direction. At the head of the list of trick dogs is the poodle, as he takes to the performance of tricks as if it was second nature, and he is the main reliance of all showmen dogs.

Newfoundlands, St. Bernards and Great Danes learn without difficulty, while the collies and spaniels are very intelligent; the terriers are quick learners and among the toy dog breed, the Yorkshire Terrier, Toy Fox Terrier and Toy Poodle are highly spoken of and can pick up tricks almost effortlessly.

In selecting the tricks that are to be taught a dog, the owner must show some discretion and no attempt should be made to teach dogs tricks that are not within their powers. For example, a big St. Bernard or Great Dane is sadly out of place or rather almost unachievable attempting to sit up, walk on his hind legs or dance.

These dog breeds are physically incapable of doing such tricks and persistent attempts to train them are really toying with their dignity. They can, however, with appropriate guidance and training taught to fetch and carry, jump, shake hands or speak. Talking about specialty, it is interesting to note that dog breed such as spaniels are particularly apt at fetching and carrying, collies can learn to count and speak readily, and the terriers have a wide sphere of possibilities.

Dogs which are to be taught tricks must have their education begun early in life, so that the playfulness of puppy hood can be taken advantage of, for as dogs mature they take on a sedateness and seriousness that increases the difficulty of teaching them to assume unnatural positions, whereas, with a puppy a trick can be made more or less a matter of play and he will enjoy going through with it.

In the general education and training tricks to a puppy, very little punishment should be given and in trick puppy training no punishment at all. A dog can be forced to do certain things, but if forced he generally acts so slow and sulky that it detracts from his performance, whereas, if he is coaxed into doing them and performs because he likes to, he will go through with his act with an enthusiasm and spontaneous that is most attractive and fun loving.

For these reasons you must not get overly excited while training your young dog nor speak loud, nor cuff and whip him, but should by frequent good-natured repetition of the same performance persuade and coax him to assume certain attitudes or do certain things, and when he has done so, praise him; he will then know that you appreciate what he has done. It is also most desirable to reward him with plentiful of praise and treats.

To end, remember not all dogs can perform every single dog tricks, as some breeds do have some physical limitations. Even so, enjoy teaching your dog “achievable” new tricks, and most importantly have fun along the way!

Though sometimes would like to believe otherwise, food is a dog’s first priority, so the first step to successful training is to establish yourself as the leader, this can be acheived by showing him that he can only have his food at your discretion and command. Give him his dinner, allow him to eat for a few seconds, then take his bowl away from him. Use an appropriate sound each time you do so, such as “leave” or “stop”, and keep the bowl for a few seconds.Provided he didn’t show any aggression as you removed the bowl, tell him how ‘good boy’,give it back and allow him to continue eating. Repeat this two or three times during each meal for a few days, then once or twice a week for a few weeks.

Some dogs are never possessive with their food, but you may find if your dog came from a large litter, the only way he could obtain his share of the food was to threaten his brothers and sisters. Finding this action acheived the desired result (getting more food),he may well try it with you.If you don’t sort this out very early on, this possessiveness will transfer to other things, such as bones, toys, furniture and so on, perhaps even to other members of the family.

To stop him being aggressive with his food, don’t give him possession of it! By this I mean feed him by hand for a couple of weeks. Prepare his food in the bowl as usual, but don’t put the bowl on the floor for him. Simply feed him a handful at a time. The bowl of food on the floor almost instinctively makes him want to guard it, so if he is not put in this position of needing to guard, he will not bite!

Feeding by hand also helps if your dog is dominant in other areas. It makes him completely reliant on you for the most important thing in his life, his food, and this will reinforce your position of pack leader, as he is only receiving the food from you and not from the bowl. You can also use this period of hand feeding to your benefit by making him perform some minor order from you for some of the food. Get him to sit first before one handful, or to lie down for the next, and so on. Don’t make him run around for the food as this could cause digestive upsets.

You will find that after a couple weeks of this regime, his general attitude over possessions will change. You can then try giving him his food in a bowl again, and, provided there is no sign of aggression, continue to feed him normally.

For dogs that are food possessive, do not give them bones or toys, as they will attempt to guard these in the same way. Once the food possession has been sorted out, you can try introducing a toy, but make sure the dog understands that it is your toy, and he is only allowed to play with it with you, and when you decide the game is to end, you must end up with the toy.

The Differences in Cat Collars

By Quentin Justice

Although collars are generally thought to be for the canine kind, many cat owners choose to purchase collars for their favorite felines. There are many different kinds of cat collars on the market, so it is imperative that you choose the best option for your cat’s needs and body. Consider taking your cat along on a shopping trip to your local pet store-most welcome animals of all types-and try on different models to find the perfect fit. Keep in mind that although color, material, and style is important, these aspects should come second to the fit of the collar.

Traditionally, cats wear collars that hold their identification information and a bell. Ensuring your pet is properly identified is critical for any animal, especially one that you intend on letting outside. In case your cat becomes lost, you will have a much better chance of finding your lost loved on if he or she has the appropriate information securely attached to the collar. Most cat owners choose to attach a small bell or another type of noise making device in order to make small animals or birds aware of a predator’s presence. Cats tend to have retained more hunting instincts than domesticated dogs, so this is a viable concern with many cat owners tired of finding their feline bringing home helpless animals.

A buckle collar is the easiest type for a cat to wear, since it can be put on and taken off quickly and easily. Try the collar on your cat to ensure he or she cannot wiggle out of the collar. Just as a loose collar is unacceptable, having a collar fitted too tight can cause discomfort or even pain if your pet feline. For a younger cat that will need a collar that grows with them, consider choosing an adjustable collar to save you from purchasing new ones in the future.

Some owners choose elastic collars that slip on and off over the cat’s head. These are great for cats that do not need the extra weight and bulk of a buckle. Keep in mind that any elastic collars should be fitted to your cat to ensure the collar is not too loose or too tight.

For indoor cats, consider choosing collars with breakaway panels or buckles that will immediately free the cat if he or she becomes caught on something inside your house. Similarly, you should choose collars made of materials that can easily be cut in case the animal becomes caught.

If you have an outdoor cat, look into a collar that uses reflective materials. These reflective materials will keep your precious feline safe at night. This is quite important, since animals are more likely to become injured or even killed since they cannot be seen. A reflective collar is also a good idea for indoor cats, since you can see the animal in the dark to avoid stepping on your pet.

Some cats enjoy taking walks in the great outdoors, but owners do not want them to be outdoors unattended. Outdoor cats can easily become lost, stolen, injured, or even killed. To solve this problem, some cat owners choose to walk their cats on a leash just like a dog. Instead of a regular collar, leash walking cats require a harness to prevent spine issues. If you are in the market for harnesses, there are two main types: the figure eight and the H-style. Depending on your individual cat and the fit, these harnesses are excellent for any cat that enjoys a walk in the park!

Once you have determined the specific type of collar for your cat, choose a color that fits his or her personality. Whether your feline wants a rocker look with black leather and metal studs or a pretty princess with pink rhinestones, the options are limitless!

A hermit crab is a truly exotic pet. They might not be the first exotic pets you think of when you first think of exotic pets. You might first think of a tarantula, an iguana, or maybe you even know someone with a scorpion. While these pets are all most definitely exotic, hermit crabs are the definition of exotic. They generally come from a tropical climate where humidity and temperature are high in the daytime and where the evenings are just as muggy. Hermit crabs unquestionably fall into the category of the more unusual pets, such as those mentioned before. They make interesting, easy-to-care-for companions and, like any other pet, have their own personalities. By nature, they are active and curious. The unique characteristics displayed in each hermit crab, plus the fact that they are low maintenance, make them the perfect pet choice for many people.

Hermit crabs are not what we think of when we think of traditional crabs. They have a much smaller, softer abdomen than the typical crab. Because the abdomens of these crabs are soft and small, they are vulnerable, so they must be protected. The way a hermit crab protects its body from the elements and predators is by taking up residence in a snail shell that has been previously discarded. As hermit crabs age and grow, they must continuously find new shells in order to have a shell that fits each time the crab grows a little. Therefore, hermit crab pet owners must provide a selection of hermit crab shells for your pet to choose from. The hermit crab will be able to choose the perfect size shell to fit comfortably on its body.

Hermit crabs, in the wild, are omnivores, meaning they eat a little bit of everything. They eat meats, vegetables, and fruit. They scavenge eating whatever they can find in order to survive. When you own a hermit crab, they can eat crab food with healthy veggie and meat snacks, or to take more time, you can feed them a balanced diet of what you might eat, such as grapes, carrots, and chicken.

As far as the type of hermit crabs that are usually found as pets in the United States, there are both land hermit crabs and marine hermit crabs. This article specifically talks about land hermit crabs, as the care for marine hermit crabs is much different. The two main species of hermit crabs that are the most popular in the U.S. are Coenobita clypeatus, also known as Caribbean crabs, land hermit crabs, or tree crabs. The other species is Coenobita compressus, also known as the Ecuadorian species, or known as E-Crabs. There are other species kept as pets in other parts of the world and can be found in the U.S. such as the Australian Hermit Crab and the Strawberry Hermit Crab. Though these species are generally found as pets in other places besides the United States, in larger pet stores in the U.S., different species are often available.

For the most part, land hermit crabs are easy to find in pet stores these days. They are becoming increasingly popular pets. One of the most important things to consider when selecting a pet is the care involved. If you are a busy person and don’t have time to put into a more needy pet, a hermit crab is relatively self-sufficient, and therefore an ideal pet for a busy person. At the time of purchase, check to make sure 3 sets of crab legs are present, he/ she is not damaged, and that there are no visible parasites. Try to pick a lively crab, and remember that the larger crabs are sturdier and less susceptible to disease and death. Whatever hermit crab you decide to choose, pick one you will love.

Most modern Pit Bulls are believed to be descended from European bull dogs and different breeds of mastiffs that were once used in farm work. The mastiffs were known for their strength and power, so they were primarily used to help farmers with their bulls when it was time to bring them in from the fields.

The mastiff became known as the bulldog. The dog’s main purpose was to protect the farmer from being gored by an enraged bull. The dog usually accomplished this task by biting onto the bull and hanging on until the bull relented. Since these dogs were used for protection from angry bulls, they had to have tremendous strength in their jaws and bodies. They also had to be stubborn enough to hang onto a stampeding bull, no matter what the bull did to them, to protect the farmer they worked for.

As time passed, these dogs started being used in bull and bear baiting. During this time it is believed some bulldogs were also bred with terriers to help make them better suited for these sports. By mixing with the terrier breed, the dogs were smaller and a great deal more agile than the regular bulldog. They also had more muscular bodies, which helped to enhance their damage producing ability. These sports were most popular in England around the early nineteenth century. In the year 1835, English Parliament banned the sports of bull and bear baiting, stating that it was much too cruel to the animals involved. The sport lost popularity, and eventually died completely out after a few years.

Dog fighting soon took the place of the previously banned bull and bear baiting sports. Breeders began trying to produce dogs that were geared to be excellent fighters. They tried to enhance the dog’s agility, strength, and musculature to make them more formidable opponents. Breeders also tried to breed the most intelligent dogs, so they would be less likely to make mistakes in fighting, and also so they would only be aggressive toward other dogs, not humans they may encounter. One of the rules of dog fighting was that the owner of the dog had to be able to enter the ring during a fight, pick his dog up, and take it completely out of the fighting ring without the dog biting him. If the dog bit the owner during this time, the dog was immediately killed.

Also in the 1800’s Pit Bulls started becoming popular pets, not just for dog fighting and farming. The dog became a mascot during World War 1 and could be seen on many war posters, which helped to increase its popularity. They were popular because of their high intelligence and devotion to their masters. In the early 1900’s pit bulls began being used in movies as well.

The Pit Bull is a dog with a very detailed history, and is still quite popular today. The breed does receive a lot of negative criticism, but with the right owners, still make terrific pets.
